3 Ways To Organize Your Storage Unit
When you have too much stuff for the space you have available, it's time to start coming up with solutions. One solution is to rent a storage unit. If you decide to do that, you are going to want to make sure that you can find things that you want easily. No one wants to waste their time digging through box after box to find the one object they are looking for. There are several ways that you can organize your storage unit to make it easy to find what you are looking for.
Use the Same Size Boxes
One thing you can do is make sure that all your boxes are the same size. There are several reasons for this. One is that they are much easier to stack if they are all the same size. Another is that you aren't going to end up playing Jenga or Tetris when you are stacking. There aren't going to be any weird-sized empty holes that you are going to need to fill. Everything will fit nice and neatly.
Label Everything
Being able to just look on the box and see what is in it will save you plenty of time if you want to find something. Get a permanent marker and write down the contents. Label the box on the top, one short side, and one long side. That way you will be able to see at least one list no matter how the box is packed. Alternatively, you could print out the list and tape it to the side, end, and top of the box. This is a good idea if the box is very full or your handwriting isn't the greatest.
Make a Master Map
Of course, the ultimate in storage unit organization is to make a master map of where everything is. You don't have to list the contents of every box, but writing down a general idea of what is in each area will point you where to go. You don't have to be an artist to make your map and it doesn't have to be picture perfect or to scale, so however you do it should be okay.
Putting your excess stuff in a storage unit will give you back the space in your house you need. Making sure your storage unit is organized will make sure you can find what your looking for when you want it. Click for more information.
